Celestia Light Nodes are now live on Leap Wallet! With just one tap, you can run a light node that verifies Celestia blocks. What does this mean, and why does it matter?
First, what is a light node? Put simply, light nodes ensure data availability for apps built on Celestia. Anything with Celestia underneath will use a light node to directly publish and retrieve transaction data. This makes light nodes one of the most critical pieces in the modular ecosystem. Light nodes specifically enable data availability sampling (DAS). Instead of downloading all data, light nodes only download a tiny portion of each block. Most importantly, DAS allows Celestia to scale as the number of light nodes increase. This is where you & your favourite wallet come in. Celestia's light nodes can now be run natively in the Leap app! With just one tap, you can help scale the modular ecosystem.
Here's how you can run a light node:
Open the Leap menu & tap on 'Run Light Node'.
Tap 'Start Verifying'

Light nodes on the Leap extension can be run in the background, so you can continue using your wallet for transactions. You can also pause & resume your light node whenever you want to.
